The company was founded in 1990, when the Tartaglia brothers, Giovanni and Raffaele, decided to take over a small oil mill located in Sant’Elia a Pianisi, structured according to the traditional system of presses; subsequently replaced by the current continuous cycle system. The commitment and work of our real village oil mill, carried out with passion and enthusiasm, today give us a healthy and genuine Extra Virgin.
Frantoio Oleario Fratelli Tartaglia located in Sant’Elia a Pianisi, a little village surrounded by rolling hills and green fields. The territory is characterized by many olive trees, cultivated in the ancient traditional way. In this territory, thanks to the climate, olives find the conditions to grow and develop. The cultivators dedicate time and attention to the olive trees, with knowledge passed on from generation to generation keeping the antique traditions. From pruning to harvesting, which cultivators manually do in the old traditional way ensuring not to damage the olives and trees, keeping the natural and healthy properties of the olives.
The harvest begins at the end of October and lasts until the beginning of December; after each day of harvestin the olives are brought to the oil mill and processed immediately, so as to obtain an extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality. Among the various qualities of olives present within the Santeliano Territory we find: Provenzana, Oliva Nera, Leccina, Romanella, Olivastra and Rosciola. By blending our many cultivated varieties we get our Extra Virgin olive oil with a unique flavor, typical of the “Molisana” hills. Sant’Elia a Pianisi is also present in the Italian Association of Oil Cities (Associazione Italiana Città dell’Olio), as a proud producer of Extra virgin Olive Oil in Italy.
